A coupon code is not accepted
Read the message under the coupon field, understand what each refusal means, and find out why the coupon field sometimes does not appear at all.
You typed a code under Have a coupon code? on an order’s Pay step and it was refused, or the coupon field is not there at all.
Most likely causes
-
Invalid coupon code. The code does not exist, is shorter than 5 or longer than 39 characters, or it was issued to a different account. We keep this message deliberately vague so codes cannot be found by guessing, so start with the spelling —0andO,1andl. Codes are read in capitals, sospring10andSPRING10are the same code. -
This coupon code is expired. The coupon is past its date. Open Settings → Billing: the Coupons and gift cards table shows the expiry date and status of every code issued to you. -
This code has been used. The coupon has already been used on an order and cannot come back. -
This is a gift card code. Redeem it on your billing page to top up your account balance. You entered a gift card. Gift cards are not discounts — they add credits to your balance, and you redeem them on Settings → Billing, not at checkout. See Gift cards. -
This coupon is already reserved for another order. The code is held by another of your unpaid orders. A coupon is reserved for an order from the moment you apply it until you place that order or take the coupon off. Open the other draft from Drafts, go to its Pay step, select × Remove on the Discount row, then apply the code here. -
The Apply button stays grey. It becomes active only once the code is at least 5 characters long — hover it and it says
Enter at least 5 characters. -
There is no Have a coupon code? link. The link appears only when there is still an amount to pay online and no coupon is applied yet. If your credits already cover the order, Total Due is
US$0.00and there is nothing for a coupon to reduce. If a coupon is already applied, remove it before you try another — only one coupon can sit on an order. -
The pay buttons went grey after the coupon was applied. The coupon brought the amount below US$0.50, the smallest amount PayPal and cards can take. The page says
Your coupon covers almost the whole amount. Remove the coupon to pay online, or contact support@tucia.com.Remove the coupon and pay the full amount, or write to us.
A coupon reduces dollars, never credits
Credits are always spent first, and the coupon then applies to the amount that would be paid online. It never lowers the number of credits an order costs, and it can never take the place of credits you do not have. That is why a coupon has nothing to do on an order your balance already covers.
If that did not help
Write to support@tucia.com with:
- The code exactly as you typed it.
- The order number the code was meant for, for example
#a8k2m. - The message shown under the field, word for word.
We can see which account a code belongs to and whether it has been used, so this is usually answered in one reply.
