Glossary

Every word this guide and the Client Portal use for a specific thing, in alphabetical order, with a link to the page that explains it properly.

Words we use in a particular way, and where each one is explained in full.

Terms

Term What it means
Account balance The credits sitting on your account, shown in the top bar. On the Pay step they are always spent first, before any dollar amount is worked out. See Account balance.
Archive The single zip file that holds one whole delivery, downloaded with Download All in Full-Res. Each version of an order has its own. See Download edited photos.
Common request A sentence you use often — between 6 and 100 characters, saved on your account. One click adds it as a line to your Project instructions; a second click takes it out again. See Common requests.
Coupon A code that reduces the amount in US dollars you pay online for one order. It never reduces the number of credits an order costs. See Coupons.
Credit The unit Tucia prices editing in. One credit is US$8.00, each photo we edit costs 1 credit, and credits never expire. See Credits and pricing.
Draft An order you have started but not paid for. Drafts wait for you under Drafts in the top bar and cost nothing. See Delete a draft order.
Gift card A code that turns into credits on your balance. Redeemed under Settings → Billing, never on the Pay step. See Gift cards.
Marked area A box or circle you drag on a photo, numbered 1, 2, 3, with a short note describing what should change there. Before payment it is an instruction; on a delivered photo it becomes a revision request. See Annotate a photo.
Note for this photo A note about one whole photo rather than one area of it, written in the photo viewer or in the Note column of the table view. See Annotate a photo.
Order number The short code that identifies an order, shown as #a8k2m next to the order name. Quote it whenever you write to us. See Track an order.
Order total The price of an order in credits before your balance and any coupon, shown on the Review step. See Review and pay.
Photos to edit The group of photos we edit and charge for, 1 credit each. Every photo you upload lands here first. See Upload photos.
Project instructions What you want done to every photo in an order, written in the right-hand column of the workspace — up to 5,000 characters, saved as you type. See Write editing instructions.
Receipt The printable record of one payment, opened from a row of your Billing history. It is printed with the receipt details from Settings → General. See Billing history and receipts.
Reference image An example image that shows the look you want. Move a photo into the Reference images group and it is never edited and never charged. See Reference images.
Review The second of the three ordering steps, where you check the price, the delivery time and the size of your edited photos before you pay. See Review and pay.
Revision A further round of editing on an order that has already been delivered. The first version is the First delivery, the next ones Revision 1, Revision 2 and so on. See Request a revision.
Status Where an order is in its life, shown as a short sentence next to a colored dot. Listed below. See Order statuses explained.
Total Due What you really pay online on the Pay step, after your balance and any coupon. US$0.00 when your balance covers the order. See Review and pay.
Turnaround Also called the delivery estimate: when we expect to deliver, shown as Est. delivery before you pay and ESTIMATED DELIVERY afterwards. It depends on how many photos you send and on your other orders in progress. See Turnaround time.
Workspace The page that opens when you select New order: your photos on the left, Project instructions and Order summary on the right. Everything on it saves automatically. See Upload photos.
XMP sidecar A small .xmp file carrying the develop settings you applied to a RAW photo. Upload it with the RAW file of the same name and the two are paired automatically. See RAW files and XMP sidecars.

Order statuses

The order shows List tab What it means

Being edited Editing Paid, and an editor is working on the first version.
Being revised Revising You asked for changes and the editor is working on the next version.
Waiting on your reply Paused The editor needs something from you before continuing. Any message you send resumes the order.
Ready for your review Reviewing A version has been delivered and is waiting for you to look at it.
Closed Closed You approved the result, or 14 days passed since delivery with no feedback.
