Coupons
Apply a coupon code on the Pay step, read the Discount row, remove a coupon, find your coupons on the Billing tab, and understand every reason a code can be refused.
A coupon takes US dollars off the amount you pay online for one order. You enter it yourself on the order’s Pay step — nothing is applied automatically, and a coupon cannot be redeemed on the Billing tab.
Before you start
- Your order is at the last step, Pay. Coupons cannot be added to an order that is already placed.
- There is still something to pay online. The Have a coupon code? link appears only when your credits do not cover the whole order and no coupon is applied yet. If your balance covers the order, Total Due is already
US$0.00and there is nothing for a coupon to reduce. - You have the code. Codes are 5 to 39 characters and are read in capitals, so
spring10andSPRING10are the same code.
Steps
Open the coupon field
On the Pay step, under Total Due, select Have a coupon code?. The field is hidden until you do.
Type the code and apply it
Type it into Coupon code and select Apply. The button stays grey until the code is at least 5 characters (Enter at least 5 characters) and reads Applying… while we check it.
If the code is refused, the reason appears in red right under the field. See the table below.
Check the Discount row
An accepted coupon shows the toast Coupon applied and a Discount row in the Order summary: the amount with a minus sign, and underneath it the code and what it gives, for example SPRING10 US$10 OFF new order. Total Due and the amounts on the PayPal and card buttons go down by the same amount.
To take it off again, select × Remove on that row. The coupon is free to use again and the Have a coupon code? link returns.

Why a code can be refused
| Message under the field | What it means |
|---|---|
Invalid coupon code |
The code does not exist, is shorter than 5 or longer than 39 characters, or it belongs to another customer’s account. We keep this message deliberately vague so codes cannot be guessed by trial and error — check the spelling first. |
This coupon code is expired |
The coupon is past its expiry date. The date is shown for every coupon on your Billing tab. |
This code has been used |
The coupon has already been used and cannot be used again. |
This is a gift card code. Redeem it on your billing page to top up your account balance. |
You entered a gift card. Gift cards are not discounts — they add credits. See Gift cards. |
This coupon is already reserved for another order |
The coupon is held by another one of your unpaid orders. Open that order’s Pay step and select × Remove, or place that order, then try again. |
A coupon you apply is reserved for that order until you place it or remove the coupon, which is why the same code cannot sit on two drafts at once.
Coupons reduce dollars, never credits
A coupon works on the amount that would be paid online, after your credits have been counted. It never reduces the number of credits an order costs.
So for an order your balance covers in full there is no coupon field at all. And if your credits fall short, a coupon can only shrink the dollar amount left to pay online. If a coupon brings that amount below US$0.50 — the smallest amount PayPal and cards can take — the page says Your coupon covers almost the whole amount. Remove the coupon to pay online, or contact support@tucia.com. and the pay buttons stay grey.
Your coupons on the Billing tab
The Coupons and gift cards table at the bottom of Settings → Billing lists every coupon and gift card issued to your account:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
Code |
The code, in a monospaced font so 0 and O are easy to tell apart, with Coupon or Gift card underneath. |
Value |
The face value, for example US$10 or 15% OFF. |
What you get |
The offer in words, for example US$10 OFF new order or 15% OFF new order. |
Expires |
The expiry date. |
Status |
Available (green dot), Used or Expired (grey dot). |
If nothing has been issued to you yet, the table reads Nothing here yet — Coupons we send you, and gift cards you have been given, show up in this list. Public promotional codes from a campaign do not appear here; only codes issued to your account do.
Rules and limits
- Codes are 5 to 39 characters and are treated as capitals.
- One coupon per order. Once a coupon is on the order, the Have a coupon code? link disappears; remove the current one to try another.
- Nothing is applied automatically. If you were sent a code, enter it on the Pay step.
- A coupon lowers Total Due only. Credits are always spent first, and the coupon works on what is left.
