Credits and pricing
A credit is how Tucia prices editing. Every photo we edit costs 1 credit, reference photos are free, one credit is US$8, and credits never expire.
Tucia prices editing in credits, not in hours. Every photo you send us to edit costs 1 credit, and one credit is US$8.00. You can pay for an order online as you place it, or keep credits on your account balance and spend them order by order.
What an order costs
| What you put in the order | Price |
|---|---|
| A photo in Photos to edit | 1 credit |
| A photo in Reference images | Free — we look at it but do not edit it |
There are no editing levels to choose and no rush option: a background swap and a colour correction cost the same 1 credit. What decides the price is simply how many photos you want edited.
So an order of 12 photos to edit plus 2 reference images costs 12 credits, which is US$96.00 at US$8.00 per credit. You see this as you build the order — the Order summary in the order workspace shows Editing photos 12, Reference photos 2 · free and Total 12 credits — and again on the Review step, which reads 12 credits for 12 photos with US$8.00 per credit. Before your balance and any coupon.
A reference image is only free while it stays a reference. If you want something from it in the result — its background, its sky, a face — move it to Photos to edit, and it is priced like any other photo. See Reference images.
Business accounts
If your studio has a business agreement with us, your photos are priced at the rate in that agreement instead of 1 credit each. The order summary then shows Agreed rate, and the Review step reads, for example, 12 photos at your agreed rate with Anything outside your agreement is quoted before we start.
When the price can go up
The price on the Review step is an estimate. One credit covers about 20 minutes of editing, and the price goes up only when a photo takes much longer than that — and never without your OK. The Review step lists when that can happen:
- A reference image has to be edited or used in the result. It then counts as a photo to edit: +1 credit.
- The edit is very complex — like rebuilding a missing face, or combining many photos into one scene.
- The photo is very high resolution, or you need a bigger size or a large print.
- For business accounts: the request falls outside your business agreement.
When that happens we pause that photo and message you with the extra amount. We only continue after you agree — or you drop that part and we refund it. Nothing is charged by surprise, but waiting for your answer can delay delivery. See Paused orders.
Not sure whether a job fits the standard price? Use Ask before you pay on the Review step and we reply with a price before you place the order. See Ask before you pay.
Credits never expire
Credits stay on your balance until an order spends them. There is no subscription and no expiry date, so buying ahead of a busy season is safe.
Credits come in packages, and bigger packages cost less per credit. The standard packages are:
| Package | Per credit | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 credit | US$8.00 | US$8.00 |
| 10 credits | US$7.20 | US$72.00 |
| 30 credits | US$6.80 | US$204.00 |
| 50 credits | US$6.40 | US$320.00 |
Some accounts — business accounts in particular — see a different list. The prices you are offered are always on the Buy credits page. See Buy credits.
Credits paid for at a package discount are still worth one photo each. When you pay for a single order online at checkout, the shortfall is charged at the full US$8.00 per credit.
Where your balance is shown
- In the top bar of every page, as a wallet icon and a number, for example
16 credits. Select it to open Billing. - On Settings → Billing, as a large figure with its value in dollars, for example
16 credits ≈ US$128.00. The dollar figure is what the credits are worth at US$8.00 each, not money you can withdraw.
The number goes up when you buy credits, redeem a gift card or cancel an order within 15 minutes, and down when an order is placed.
Coupons and gift cards
- A coupon takes US dollars off the amount you pay online for one order. It never reduces the number of credits an order costs. See Coupons.
- A gift card turns into credits on your balance the moment you redeem it. See Gift cards.
